As Memorial Day approaches I hope you don't mind if I use this time to remind you of the Buckley Reunion scheduled for Oct 3-6 in Buffalo, NY. Over the course of the past seven months, George Estey and I have tried to contact as many former shipmates as we could find. Between us, we have personally spoken to or traded emails with over five hundred of you. This has been our main effort along with updating the web site. George has done an outstanding job on the web site and we've received many complements. Our goal is to make the web site useful and enjoyable for you the crew members. After all, the vast majority of information is from you. By the same token, we have tried to put together a great reunion for you to enjoy. We all put time in the service of our country and some of that time was spent on the Buckley. As I've observed and mentioned in speaking to and trading emails with you, many memories were dug out of your subconscienous that had been laying dormant for the better part of thirty, forty, and fifty years or more. What better place to relive some of those days of yesteryear than at a reunion? Also, we've tried to emphasize that even if you haven't been to a previous reunion or you don't know any crew members specifically when you were aboard, our goal is to make this reunion a setting where you will find new shipmates that will become your friends from now on. Please don't wait until the last minute to sign up and please think about this opportunity. Even though I hate to admit it, we are all getting older and these opportunities will become harder in the future. As always, any questions, George or I will be happy to answer them. Please note that all reservations and expenses for tours etc., need to be finalized one month prior to the reunion. We'll use the cut off date of September 1st. Any additional special arrangements need to be made at the time of booking. Hotel will provide complementary indoor parking with elevator access. Airport and Shuttle arrangements are your own responsibility. _____________________________________________________________________________ Niagara Tour - $65/person- This must be paid to George Estey.This tour will be from approximately 9AM - 4:30PM and will include the following: Maid of the Mist Boat Tour, Cave of the Winds trip, NY State Observation Tower, Rapid, Goat Island, Terrapin Point, Luna Island, Whirlpool, Power Plant, and Falls. This tour will also include a two hour or so drop off at the Casino or Fashion Mall for your own individual gambling, dining, or shopping choices. _____________________________________________________________________________ Naval & Military Park - $5/person admission- This must be paid to George EsteyNavy Lunch on Fan Tail of USS Little Rock - $17.50/person- This must be paid to George.Lunch will consist of Salad and Sandwich Buffet featuring: Assorted Mini Ham, Turkey, and Roast Beef Sandwiches on fresh rolls. Green Salad, Chips and Pretzels, and assorted condiments.
